Module Self Evaluation

1. What skills have you developed through this
module and how effectively do you think you have applied them?
|
|||||
This module has helped me to get a grasp on
how to research a subject thoroughly. I have always held an interest in
research behind any work I produce so this was a good opportunity to exercise
that in an academic setting.
|
|||||
2. What approaches
to/methods of research have you developed and how have they informed your practical
outcomes?
|
|||||
Understanding sites
such as JStor, which I hadn’t realised existed until now. Harvard referencing
was also a new thing to me, this is an extremely useful skill to now have.
|
|||||
3. What strengths can
you identify in your work and how have/will you capitalise on these?
|
|||||
A strength I noticed,
not in my outcomes but during my process, was the passion I began to have for
the subject I was researching. I was pleasantly surprised when I realised I
wanted to research into my subject as much as I could.
|
|||||
4. What weaknesses can
you identify in your work and how will you address these in the future?
|
|||||
I think my main
weakness was my response in my visual journal. I was too vague with my approach
and therefore didn’t produce work which seemed to have much depth or point to
it. This is turn made the third essay, reflective practice, particularly hard
to write. I was not organised during this module, I would have benefitted
from trying to understand my direction much earlier than I did. In the future
I will, naturally, be more organised and really start the COP module with
more reading and honing in of my theme (ie. Highlighting text and writing
bullet point lists of what I want to include.)
|
|||||
5. Identify five
things that you feel will benefit you during next years Context of Practice
module?
·
Easier information to
follow; I don’t feel like I really grasped anything I was told and the layout
of the hand in is over complicated and vague. This made me extremely stressed
·
Start the work on time
and organise my workload better
·
Spend more time in the
library
·
Ask for help more
·
More group tutorials and
feedback groups
|

|

6.How would you grade
yourself on the following areas:
(please indicate using
an ‘x’)
5= excellent, 4 = very
good, 3 = good, 2 = average, 1 = poor

The evaluation of your
work is an important part of the assessment criteria and represents a
percentage of the overall grade. It is essential that you give yourself
enough time to complete your written evaluation fully and with appropriate
depth and level of self-reflection. If you have any questions relating to the
self-evaluation process speak to a member of staff as soon as possible.
|
A copy of your
end of module self evaluation should be posted to your studio practice blog.
This should be the last post before the submission of work and will provide the
starting point for the assessment process. Post a copy of your evaluation to
your COP blog as evidence of your own on going evaluation.
